The Motorola Droid Pro, Business Smartphone Running Android

It was only a matter of time until manufacturers realized that their own, proprietary operating systems couldn’t hold a candle to what Google gives away with Android OS. Guess what? The world needs business oriented smartphones and that means Motorola is making one with Android. While Android has not yet managed to get a firm footing yet in the corporate world, the new Motorola Droid Pro could go a long way towards establishing that credibility.

So what is the Droid Pro packing that lets it hope and dream of being in the pocket of businessmen and women everywhere? Well first of all, it is a world phone. That means that it can roam on pretty much every network under the sun—CDMA or GSM—and has a spot for a SIM card when you’re away from Verizon. It also does mobile Wi-Fi hotspot creation. Liking what you see? The Droid Pro also moves away from what Motorola has been doing with its other smartphones and goes vertical. The keyboard does not slide out and is instead integrated into the front of the device below the touchscreen. It’s also made for one handed texting, which plenty will rejoice for. Who really wants to have to slide open their smartphone just to text.

The new smartphone also has integrated spell checking and a bunch of little features that business users will find essential. Data encryption anyone? It even will ship with document editing software.
